Soul Reconnection

Oh, hi! I'm back :D

You totally missed me, right? ...RIGHT?!

In case you were wondering, no, I didn't have a nervous breakdown.

Just a break. To think about stuff.... get my head in the right place. Ya know?

I feel good. Renewed. Revived. Refocused. A lot of "re" vibes going on. It's all good.

I've been on a blog break for almost two months now and a lot has happened... for reals. I have so much to share with you guys, I'm not even sure where to start... I have lots of artsy stuff to show off and lots of mind blowing wisdom I have recently gained.

So how bout a little of both? :)

I'll start with the artsy stuff....
I just completed a painting for my final Color Theory class project. The assignment was to do a pointillism painting and the inspiration was "circus." Fun, right? Ever heard of pointillism before? If not, have no fear; Google definitions will save the day once again:

    noun /ˈpwaNtēˌyizəm/  /ˈpointlˌizəm/
    1. A technique of neo-Impressionist painting using tiny dots of various pure colors, which become blended in the viewer's eye. It was developed by Seurat with the aim of producing a greater degree of luminosity and brilliance of color

I did a pen and ink Marilyn Monroe portrait in this previous post. So it's like that, but with paint. Using only red, blue and yellow hues plus black and white to either lighten or darken a hue (no mixing of the hues allowed), I created this beautiful female acrobat posing on her circus ring...

Here's a view from far away...

Can you tell I used a pencil eraser for the dots? I also used ends of paintbrushes to get the smaller dot effect. It took me a total of five hours. The more I look at it the more I love it... it's probably my favorite artwork I've ever done.

What shall I name her? Ideas?

Now for some mind blowing wisdom...
It feels so, so good to be exercising my creative brain again. It's like a rush of adrenaline. Even better, because it lasts for days. I mean, it's so easy to just say, "Yeah, I'll do that one day" and toss the idea into a virtual pin board. I've done that so many times and for too long. It gets to that point where something inside doesn't feel quite right and you don't know why... and then BAM! I finally get in my creative groove and it's like I'm reconnecting with my soul. It seriously makes me want to do this every day for the rest of my life. Just conquer the world with art. Oh, what a dreamy life that would be!

So, confession time...
