Hair Envy

Good morning, friends and newcomers!
How was your weekend?

I considered mine to be successful, and by successful I mean it mostly consisted of vegging, eating, getting tipsy, and hanging out in the same clothes without a stitch of makeup.

Good times.

While I do appreciate a weekend of no fuss, I'm now preparing for a week full of school projects to complete, speeches to be made, blog posts to write, and portraits to sketch.

So why not start off with something completely off topic?

HAIR! One of my favorite subjects...

Before I begin, let me just say, I really love my bob! I felt like I had found the perfect style suited to my face and personality, but seeing all these gorgeous hair trends have left me dreaming of long hair, Zooey Deschanel hair, the hair I used to have before I chopped it all off.

I've been trying to grow it out since the fall. Some of the most heartbreaking moments are when I see all the length I've gained in front chopped off to even out the a-line. It's mostly filled in now, and the color damage from before is starting a good five inches from the roots. Thank goodness for the ombre trend or I'd look like a freak.

Here's where I'm at right now:

I think with another 6-8 inches I might be able to pull off a top knot without using 800 bobby pins, what do you think? How long does it take for your hair to grow?

To keep my spirits high, I thought today I would share with you my favorite hair trends I'm adoring and looking forward to. Do we have any in common?

Now that I know I don't have to wash my hair every day (seriously, I used to do that) I think I might be able to pull off some of these looks without spending too much time in the morning.

Which one is your favorite?

  3. SIDE BRAID & TOP KNOT!
    Ahh :(
    Grow hair gorwww!

Top knots by Christmas for us...don't forget ;)

This is funny, because the post I have scheduled for tomorrow is similar to this. The summer heat is causing me to long for a top knot even MORE.

  4. I adore Zooey's hair in that first picture! I also love top knots, side braids, and the chignon. Since my hair is so curly, I can usually get it to hold any style. I think I might try the braided headband. I have never done it before and it looks adorable!

  5. side braid, without a doubt. My hair is just past my shoulders, so I can get it into a regular braid for about ten minutes before it all falls out. Can't wait to do braids again

  6. i was just thinking about, seeing as I got a raise, I am going to spend that money on my hurr!

I normally just throw it into a bun, because it is easy and plain and neat. But I'm thinking of going all out with my hair this time, cutting a fringe again and layering it, and going with a bold colour for winter! So excited.

I love all these styles, but girl, you are so pretty with short hair, it suits you perfectly!

  8. Eek, it scares me to think about washing my hair every day... I hate how my hair has felt in the past when I've had to do it. (had to!) a girl I used to hang around with washed hers every morning and it was in such bad condition, it scared me to wash mine like it!!

The best way to keep your hair growing is definitely to deep condition it like once a month, and get it cut regularly. (so obvious, right? But the amount of times I've forgotten to get my hair cut and then think "man... My hair has stopped growing!!")

Your hair does look so pretty though! I really like that shape on you!xx

  9. I love the top knot, but even with my long hair I can never seem to get it to look perfectly effortless and messy. Weird! xo

  10. I like your hair! I sometimes envy short hair, because it always looks so in place and perfect. My wild mane is so hard to do! Maybe I am just bad at doing hair. BUT I do love trying styles from pinterest. I think that the braided headband is my favorite, or the pretty pony. I like em both!

  11. I'm loving your bob! I had a bob last summer, and I'm trying to grow it out. It was time for a change! I love the braids too, but my hair is in the awkward "middle" phases where it's not quite long enough to do a braid... *sigh*

PS- Don't forget to stop by my blog for my week of giveaways! http://avant-garde-living.blogspot.com/

  13. I love your hair! But yeah Zooey's hair is just beyond amazing!!!

  14. Who isn't envious of Zooey's everything? Seriously that's one hot lady.

I just chopped all my hair off - but If I had long hair I would totally rock a Katniss side braid.

  15. The braid headband. So easy to rock :)

  16. Luckily I managed to grow about a little over 9 inches in a year.
I believe Biotin helps and have noticed hair grows faster during the summer months as long as you're actually going out and whatnot for a bit!

A braided headband is cute. Have you done that one?

  18. A) I used to wash my hair everyday too! I cannot believe I didn't discover dry shampoo sooner.

    B) I'm thanking God for ombre trends as well. My hair is always two-tone, lighter on the bottom. Personally I hate it and don't know why anyone would strive for that look. But in the meantime, its allowing me to be lazy and not dye it.

  19. I love Zooey's hair too, though yours is looking lovely. I'm not very good with doing stuff with my hair - I tend to just leave it straight and down everyday (it's pretty long!). I would like to spend more time on doing it. I love the braided hairband, just need to watch some tutorials on youtube and get some practice! xx

  20. love all 5 of those trends. the top knot is usually my go-to style of choice....not because i am stylish, but because i am lazy.

  22. Hi, I'm new to following your blog and absolutely love it! I used to have long hair and decided to cut it short. Now..I want my long hair back! Can't win can you?

I love the 'braided headband look' and will definitely be trying it, when and IF my hair grows back.

    KEEP BLOGGING.

  23. I'm in the same boat right now. :) I had your bob about a year ago, and have been working on growing it out (while trying different colors :). I love all of these hair trends and can't wait to try them all. I probably like the sloppy bun the best.

  24. I feel you hun! I can now Do a messy bun with like 5 bobby pins! It's great. My hair grows ok and I'm fine with it. When it was shorter I was washing it very often. I hated it. Now I wash it every few days or every other day. It's awesome!

  25. Braids are a great go-to, but I can't do the headband braid, because I don't have bangs. I cannot pull off that style without bangs. And I'll probably never have bangs. So... that settles that. ;-)
