I love this road.
I never found out where it led to,
but I don't think that would have mattered.
It's kind of like life, in that sense.
I don't know where the road of life will take me.
I'm doubtful of the outcome, but inspired by each moment.
And even though the world around me may seem chaotic,
I find peace in that chaos...
Because I have a husband close by with a shoulder to rest my head on,
Two dogs that are overjoyed whenever they sense my presence,
And support from every angle (including you!) reinforcing my dreams.
I realize as I get older the destination seems to matter less and less.
It's always been about the journey, the little things, the lessons along the way.
That to me, is the definition of life.
If we wait for a certain something to make us happy,
dreaming of the day when everything will be perfect,
then clearly, we have missed the point.
Take a moment today to appreciate your life - all that it is, the good and the bad.
Start measuring moments, not just our accomplishments...
Then we might realize how happy we really are ♥

I've been coming to this realization in a major way this year. We have been so focused on where we'd like our family to be in five years that we almost missed the awesome place we are at now. Great post. Great reminder :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures!!!! Great spot!!! What a wonderful reminder to grasp the now instead of always looking ahead. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautifully written!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all...you are GORGEOUS.
ReplyDeleteAnd Kristen, this post hit me HARD! I'm learning a lot of these things right now so reading this was a good reinforcement for me. Thanks, girl :)

I love so much about this post I don't even know where to start! I adore these pictures of you, especially the one that shows your tattoo. Gorgeous. And this is exactly what I strive to do in life, and share on my blog. Being grateful for and celebrating the everyday real life things, not just dreaming of "perfect" days to come. Living int he moment and savoring it for what it is. That is what bring real happiness. Thank you for sharing your words and these great pictures my friend. <3 <3 You shine from inside out.
ReplyDeleteYou have a gift for writing. I love the way you wrote this. Beautifully thought out. Thanks for the words os inspiration. And you are a doll.

ReplyDeletelove your heart, kristen.
so lovely. love your little birdies too.
ReplyDeleteMeasuring moments, not accomplishments. I like that a lot!
ReplyDeleteI grew up as a very achievement-oriented person, and it seldom made me happy. I feel much more balanced when I focus on the little moments of magic like snuggling puppies in the park. :)
I love this..."Take a moment today to appreciate your life - all that it is, the good and the bad.
ReplyDeleteStart measuring moments, not just our accomplishments..." So true! I blogged yesterday about treasuring moments. Thanks for sharing! Be blessed :)

First of all, those photos are absolutely awesome. :) Also, this post spoke right to me. Thanks, friend.
ReplyDeleteLady you totally brought it in this post. And what you said about it not being about the destination - but the journey - this is something my father-in-law always said. He used to ride motorcycles and often he would just ride - never really knowing where he was going or what was ahead - he just enjoyed living in the moment and just that - enjoying the journey. It's amazing when you can learn to live your life like this.
ReplyDeleteAll I know is that I just love you...every thought you think...every road you travel...muah!!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE everything about this post.. the words, the photos. I really enjoy reading your blog.
