Sun, Gloom & Spontaneity

I like this trend of checking in with you guys every week and showing photos I snapped on my camera - how about you? I hope so. This weekend started out sunny with blue skies and ended with gloomy clouds and sprinkles of snowflakes. Leave it up to Utah weather to keep you guessing...

If you haven't caught on... I've basically only taken photos in and around my house, mostly of the front yard - even with my outfit photos! I know, it's so un-blogger like of me.

Why not hit up the farmer's market and take pictures of the locally grown tomatoes? Perhaps go hunting in a vintage shop, eat some macarons in the city, or go to some local Mom n' Pop diner? I guess that just seems a little forced for my lifestyle. I hope to be a lot cooler one day.

I do plan on bringing Suzie with me to my Connecticut trip this week! Oh yeah, you didn't know? I booked it last Thursday night - so spontaneous of me. I got a rush of adrenaline just purchasing the tickets - I don't know why it feels so irresponsible. I guess I'm not much of a spender - I only buy when I need, but in this case when my uncle's wife just passed away, I haven't seen my sister in almost two years, and I can afford to, I figured it was money well spent.

I really cannot wait to get back in my hometown and spend time with family, even if it's only for a few short days. I'm sure I'll have some more variety in my shots next week! :)

When's the last time you did something spontaneous?

  1. Okay, it's possible you're converting me to dachshunds ;) and I hope you enjoy your trip! It's been wacky weather here in CT. Below zero one day and then 50's the next. You know, the normal New England weather! Should make for some good pictures either way. ;D

  5. The frost on the foliage...amazing! I'm working on my close-ups...a macro lens (Is that right? My husband has told me a zillion times) is going to be my first accessory once I master the settings. These photos are great!

  7. Firstly, your photos are gorgeous. Take photos of whatever you want, but please keep capturing some of Utah's beauty! Also, that is very spontaneous of you! I always plan months in advance; however, this will soon change, because when I find out my sister is having her baby in a few months, I'm going to have to drop everything and hop the first flight out to SD! I can't wait!

  9. I really don't think you need to go make up things to do just to take pictures, especially when you live in such a beautiful area! Hope you have a safe flight my dear, and a fun trip! xoxo

  11. It just proves you don't have to go far for a great photo. The frost on the pine cones is stunning.

  15. Is it weird that I smiled knowing you'll be on the east coast? I like the close to home photos but PLEASE take some of CT too!

  16. Nice photos. I really should take some time and go walking in a park or something. I'm just such a homebody and it's so cold out that I'm not inclined to do so. You're from CT? Thats really cool. I went to high school and college in CT.

  18. Tell me about it! When we lived in Utah for a couple of years, I could have sworn our town was on a banana belt. For example, our town would be sunny without snow, but if you drove to the next town, which was only nine miles away, it would be covered in snow and cloudy. I used to blame the mountains...lol.
